7 Things Only a Fire Sign Would Understand

Aries, Leo and Sagittarius? We're lookin' at you, feisty Fire signs – and we get it, we promise.

Things Only a Fire Sign Would Understand

I'm going to go ahead and start with a disclaimer that I'm an Aries through and through. Still, Fire signs like Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are their own special kind of crazy, one that other signs of the zodiac don't always seem to understand.

We're spontaneous, headstrong, majorly stubborn, impulsive to the point of recklessness sometimes, and also loyal beyond belief. We forget faster than we forgive and we have flaws, just like anyone. It's just that we tend to wear ours on our sleeves. And there's more:

We can't even with other signs sometimes.

Don't get me wrong, Fire signs can be dreamers too (I see you, Sagittarius). But hey, someone's gotta keep all the Air signs from going floating off into the stratosphere, right?

We're ruled by extremes.

7 Things Only a Fire Sign Would Understand

There's no in-between for a Fire sign most of the time; we prefer the all-or-nothing approach. Like, when we're upset by something we immediately want to say how we feel, just to put it out there – but at the same time, we feel conflicted. Should we? Shouldn't we? In a way, we're fighting with ourselves because we don't want to say anything, knowing that if we do, there's the possibility of it causing drama.

It's not like we go looking for trouble; it's just that trouble always finds us. Because if we suck it up and don't say anything, there's also the distinct possibility that we'll be the first human beings ever to actually spontaneously combust. But actually. We can't not talk about it – and that's where the trouble starts.

We are the definition of impulsive.

We react impulsively. To. Everything. And yes, I mean everything. Plus, we're feisty. (Did I mention we're feisty?) Sometimes that, too, can get us into trouble. More often than not, it makes us a mass of bubbling contradictions and emotions. Throw my hot temper in there and you'll quickly get the gist of it.

Then, we'll cool off and forget all about it. Oh, we were irked at something you did 10 minutes ago?* That's done and over with now. Moving right along!

*This is not to say that Fire signs forget everything, because some of us (read: most of us) are particularly good at holding grudges. We might not forgive easily, but once we have gotten over it, we're champions at that whole sweep-it-under-the-rug thing.

...and stubborn. Don't forget stubborn.

Sometimes we're just a little (okay, maybe more than a little) too stubborn for our own good. Like, we might know that what we're telling ourselves – or you – is wrong; we just don't want to admit it.

Got that whole stubborn mind, wild heart, free soul trifecta goin' on. Yep, you read that right.

We're passionate and protective at the same time.

We're passionate, protective, headstrong, and loyal to a fault. But just go ahead and try to tell us we're wrong.

We can be so confident it's dangerous. Like, sometimes we feel borderline invincible.

Our temperaments are exciting but can also be draining. Fire signs have a tendency of getting so swept up in the whirlpool of our own frenetic energy that we forget that, yes, we're human too. What do you mean, we can't go days without sleep or sustenance in pursuit of a project that we'll abandon in favor of something more appealing in approximately T-minus 10 days? (Hey, I'm not proud of my attention span, or lack thereof, okay.)

Sometimes, we need a lesson in finishing what we started.

In our enthusiasm, we can be a little scattered, taking on a million different things at once and quickly losing steam (i.e. patience). Does this mean we're incapable of completing things? Of course not; just that a little nudge might have to be in order for us to do so. (Any harder than that and we just might bite your head off. Don't say I didn't warn you.)

One thing is for sure: You want a Fire sign on your side in a fight. And if you ever need some pointers on how to live and love passionately and fearlessly, you know who to call.
